BABYMETAL is the winner of "Best New Act" on Loudwire Music Awards
"Slipknot were the big winners of the 4th Annual Loudwire Music Awards, picking up an unprecedented five honors. No band or act has even come close to
Slipknot’s record, with the masked maniacs being named Best Metal Act of 2014, Best Metal Album of 2014 (‘.5: The Gray Chapter’), Best Metal Song of 2014 (‘The Negative One’),
Best Metal Video of 2014 (‘The Devil in I’) and Best Drummer of 2014.
Linkin Park also won multiple honors. This year, the band was voted Best Rock Band of 2014 along with Best Live Act of 2014.
Slash / Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy also made Loudwire Music Awards history by being voted Best Vocalist for the third year in a row. X Japan also became multiple-time winners. The visual kei pioneers snagged a victory in the Most Devoted Fans category, having earned the honor previously in the 2nd Annual Loudwire Awards."
"With the release of their self-titled debut album in early 2014, BabyMetal took over the world of metal in unique and captivating fashion. In a runaway victory, BabyMetal took in over 58 percent of the vote for Best New Artist of 2014, accumulating more votes than the nine other nominees combined.
Islander, who won Best Rock Album of 2014 with ‘Violence & Destruction,’ took in a respectable 23 percent of the vote, but BabyMetal blew away the other nominees with ease.
BabyMetal were already massive in their native Japan, but 2014 is when Su-metal, Yuimetal and Moametal took over the world. With their immensely talented backing band, the youthful trio toured heavily, performing to sold-out audiences around the globe. The BabyMetal girls may be the hardest working little rockers out there, and the band’s one-of-a-kind live show has been immortalized in their ‘Live at Budokan: Red Night’ 2015 DVD.
BabyMetal is an extremely polarizing group, but we can’t wait to hear what the act comes out with next. Congrats to BabyMetal on being voted the Best New Act of 2014! Stay tuned to Loudwire for all your BabyMetal updates."
