Yuyoyuppe talk about working with BABYMETAL in 36 demos for "Megitsune"

The artist and producer behind several BABYMETAL songs like "Megitsune", "Akumu No Rondo", "Yava!", "Sis.Anger" just to name a few released his debut album as DJ Tekina / Something in May including "Head Bangya" Remix (Read more here). In order to promote his album and performance at "Rock In Japan Festival" in August was interviewed on Natalie.mu to talk about his activities. Below you will be able to read an excerpt of what he says about KAWA-EDM process related with "Head Bangya" remix and his previous works with BABYMETAL creating "Megitsune"

---Start of the excerpt of the interview---

DJ Tekina / Something have appeared for fourth consecutive year at "Rock In Japan Festival", this year on August 13. He made a name for Vocaloid, Yuyoyuppe, while selectively using the two names provides music to a big variety of artists, bands, DJs, and he is active as songwriter, arranger, mixer of BABYMETAL. Including BABYMETAL in May of this year has released the album "KAWA-EDM" as DJ Tekina / Something.

-First, "KAWA-EDM", how did you planned the origin of Idol Music remixed in EDM Style?

Yuyoyuppe: "I'm up to this now, I've been asked for a variety of activities, such as bands and DJs, at some point I'm exhausted so "I want to do something interesting somehow", this album is the prime example. It's like I want to stay close of the other side."

-Well, I think at certain degree the other side is creative, important and fairly.

"The truth is that I got decided in the family restaurant, manager and I, 'I'm not interested even in the normal remixes', 'Maybe Idol songs remixed with vocal sound source', 'Well I will do it.'"

-In fact listening to them have a confortable feeling. For example, after "Head Bangya" dub step of BABYMETAL, "Denden Passion" drum and bass of Dempagumi inc. , Ueza Gaaruzu "Koi No Tenkeyohou" glitch-hop, and "IDOL" of BiS, you are versatil in the way of approaching each song.

"When I was listening to them, I have adopted most of those concepts. I'm in the left and right sides of the intuition."

Missed ideas, are not coming out anymore in lifetime.

-In an interview with other media, was said that you are responsible of the arrangenment of "Megitsune" of BABYMETAL, it was also said that were made 36 demos. I wonder if the experience of trial and error influenced you to develop in detail the trial and error?

"BABYMETAL chan is special, BABYMETAL is a rare example because working with them is rather than trial and error, it's more about like doing a triathlon of feels(Laughs). Their producer Kobametal doesn't compromise at all."

-I see. They care a lot about the colorful sound of the snare drums, it's crazy. Things like, 'each sound feels strong', 'each sound feel dry', they really care about them.

"Yes, but caring about the details can be done at the end. The most impotant thing are the basic concepts. After devoloping the basic concepts, I take long time working in the details with BABYMETAL chan. My philosophy is, 'don't spend long time devolping the basic concepts. If you do, you already lost'. Originally, I was worried about 'losing' in terms of making music, at the time of creating "KAWA-EDM", the speed and imagination is very important, more than ever I think I was spot on."
