BABYMETAL was interviewed in the new issue of Kerrang Magazine to talk about the most exciting moments and experiences of 2016. The girls share their thoughts about Wembley Arena, Tokyo Dome, meeting new artists, lessons learned this year, best outfit, best films and their upcoming activities in 2017. Was 2016 a good year for BABYMETAL?
Yuimetal: "This year was definitely one to remember since we had such major events — like the worldwide release of our album, Metal Resistance, and being able to have our tour finale at the prestigious Tokyo Dome. I feel that we were able to make a bigger impression on the world than ever before, and I'm so honoured to be a part of this experience."
What was the high point for you?
Moametal: "There was so much happening this year that it's difficult to pick one! Performing at Wembley Arena at the start of the tour was one to remember, and our tour finale at the Tokyo Dome was another memorable moment. It finally felt we were back home, and to be concluding things at that venue was just amazing. But the most memorable moments of all the incredible experiences I've had are seeing our audience enjoying our performances everywhere we've played."
How did it feel being onstage at The SSE Arena Wembley?
Yuimetal: "To be able to headline and perform in front of people from various countries felt very surreal, and I am just so thankful to be given this opportunity."
What was the craziest thing that the FOX GOD prophesied?
Su-Metal: "Probably Download; I couldn't believe my eyes! There were soooo many people and the experience was absolutely mindblowing!"
Who was the most famous person you met?
Moametal: "It's hard to pick one as we've met a lot of famous people! Everyone has been incredibly nice to us, and to see how serious every artist is towards music is just amazing. I feel I learn a lot every time we meet someone famous"
What was the best outfit you wore?
Moametal: "I personally like the long-sleeved outfit we wore during our Wembley performance. It looked strange at first sight, since I've been so used to seeing red parts on our outfits, but I came to realise how light and trendy the outfit was, and as a result it has become my favourite ever since!"
What was the best film you watched?
Yuimetal: "I enjoy watching Mr. Mamoru Hosoda's films, as well as Studio Ghibli films. If I were to pick one, it'd be Mr Hosoda's film,Wolf Children.The main theme of the movie is love, and the way Mr Hosoda incorporates that within the movie is outstanding."
What lessons did you learn this year?
Yuimetal: "After going to various countries I learned that there are specific things we can accomplish as BABYMETAL, and to see that we are able to put a smile on people's faces has been an incredible feeling. I hope that we can continue to touch people's hearts."
What are you excited for in 2017?
Su-Metal: "We haven't heard anything yet from the FOX GOD - but hopefully we are able to perform more in the UK!"
